ADR High Density Surge Suppression Panel

The Peek High Density Surge Suppression System is a modular surge protection solution for the ADR Series Product line. It can be used with the ADR-1000, ADR-2000 and ADR-3000 traffic recorders. This system has been designed to provide surge protection for Loop and Piezo feeds from the street, telephone surge protection, ADR power, and protection for the ADR Opto output. It also provides
external temperature probe protection, in-cabinet temperature monitoring, and solar and battery voltage monitoring capabilities. A maximum of 8 sensor inputs can be made on the main panel. If a greater number of inputs are needed, then extra sensor panels can be added to the system, providing as many extra input channels as are needed for your ADR installation. The High Density Surge Suppression System is designed to manage either a 6V or 12V power supply.

The basic idea of the ADR High Density Surge Suppression panel is to provide a protective and sophisticated electrical interface between a cabinet mounted ADR Plus unit and the cabinet and field hardware to which they must be interfaced. This means providing optically isolated connections to road loops and other sensors, as well as surge protected power interfaces and modem interfaces, and also connections to earth ground and solar power options.   HDSSP Typical Installation

A typical High Density Surge Suppression (HDSSP) panel would have interconnections similar those shown in the image at left (click image to enlarge.) An HDSSP panel can be configured, based on your requirements, with the following types of modules:

  • Power Management/Surge Suppression (PMSS) Module (standard)
  • Telephone Line surge suppression module (standard)
  • Earth grounding bus (standard)
  • One or more 8 channel Loop surge suppression modules (optional)
  • One or more 8 channel Piezo surge suppression modules (optional)
  • Solar/Battery charge controller (optional)
The image at right shows how an ADR-1000 Plus unit would be connected to the Piezo Surge Suppression module of the HDSSP. (Click image to enlarge)   HDSSP - ADR-1000 wired to Piezo module
