Peek Traffic and U.S. Traffic, and all of the myriad historical companies from which they were created, have been leaders in the development of highly practical and innovative traffic control products for many years. In fact, the companies link back to the earliest traffic equipment companies in the United States: Streeter Amet, Crouse-Hinds, Sarasota Technologies, Traconex Corporation, Multisonics Corporation, Transyt, TCT, and many others. This heritage stretches back a full 120 years to the 1888 formation of Streeter Amet in Chicago, Illinois. Through all of that time, our products have helped to make motorists around the world safer and their travels more pleasant and efficient. Some of the best known brands in the traffic control industry were consolidated to create the modern Peek Traffic Corporation. This expertise, experience and breadth of product lines has made Peek one of the most respected leaders in the traffic control marketplace.
Peek Traffic employs over 130 people, working in facilities in Florida, California, and Pennsylvania, many with decades of individual experience building, testing and supporting traffic equipment products. With a lineage dating back over a century, to the first mass produced electric traffic signals installed in North America, you’d expect our engineers to have a few ideas about using modern technology to address 21st century traffic and transit issues. The majority of Peek manufacturing occurs at our 70,000 square-foot facility in Palmetto, Florida. Peek also has an engineering team in Anaheim, California, and a traffic and pedestrian signal equipment group in Bedford, Pennsylvania. All Peek facilities are certified to ISO-9001:2000, ensuring that all facets of the manufacturing process, from sales order entry and product design to shipping and servicing, are performed in accordance with stringent quality standards.
July 1st, 2008 marked the beginning of a new era in the history of Peek Traffic and U.S. Traffic Corporations. On that date, Signal Group, Inc. of Houston, Texas purchased Peek and U.S. Traffic from Quixote Corporation. Signal Group valued the history and market leading positions of the companies, and sees many opportunities to expand the reach of Peek Traffic Corporation, both in the United States, and internationally. Signal Group is a private corporation that also owns firms producing street reflectors and traffic signage in the United States.
